Call for Papers
We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the 7th International Colloquium on St. Maximus the Confessor, focused on the theme “ Maximus the Confessor: The Salvation of Nature”. This conference is organized by the University of Warsaw, the Centre for Development of Research and Education, the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, University of Belgrade, in collaboration with the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Károli Gáspár University of the Protestant Church in Hungary (Budapest, Hungary).
The conference will be held at the University of Warsaw, from April 20 to April 23, 2026.
The conference proceedings will be published within the Subsidia Maximiana series by Brepols.
Conference theme
The overarching theme of the conference is salvation of nature in the philosophy and theology of St. Maximus the Confessor. Papers are invited on various aspects of this theme, including (but not limited to):
- the understanding of nature
- the salvation of rational and non-rational beings
- the destiny of the created world
- the philosophical and patristic background to Maximus’ views on nature
- the relationship between the primordial state and the eschatological state
- the environmental responsibility
Submission Guidelines
We invite scholars to submit abstracts of up to 250 words, including a title and contact information (affiliation and email). Abstracts should be sent to:
